Children

Our ministry with children is guided by the understanding that all children are a gift of God. We share in affirming that all children are:

Created by God and created good;

All children are a gift to the whole human community;

All children have a real faith and gifts for ministry;

All children have the right to be children;

And all children are not just tomorrow, but they are today.

Children are always welcome to stay for the entire worship service. We have provided activity bags by each entrance to the Sanctuary with Bible story books, activity pages, and other quiet activities, and we invite all children to come forward during our Time With Young Disciples before the sermon at the

11:00 a.m. service.

Nursery

Our nursery is available for children birth through 5 years old from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday mornings and is staffed by wonderful childcare professionals, as well as church volunteers. Upon checking in, parents will sign their child(ren) in and provide a cell phone number that can be used if they are needed during the service.

Godly Play

Godly Play is our Sunday School curriculum for children ages 3 through 5th grade. It meets from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings September - May, in the Children's Assembly Room on the second floor. It is based on Biblical storytelling and allows children to enter into the story with wonder and awe, and to engage with the story through creative play. More information on the Godly Play program is available here.

Worship 101

Worship 101 is a new class we are offering this fall for children in Kindergarten - 2nd grade.  We believe that children are an important part of our congregation and should be involved as much as possible in worship.  This class will help children prepare for active participation in worship.  It will run September 22-November 24, 2019, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Children's Assembly room on the second floor.  Children will join their parents in worship on December 1, the first Sunday of Advent, and the beginning of the new church year.  Topics will include: Why, Where & How Do We Worship?  How Do We Get Ready for Worship?  How Do We Hear God's Word?  What is Baptism?  What is Communion?  What is Prayer?  How Do We Thank God?  Worship in Action.

Wednesday Night Fellowship

Wednesday Night Fellowship meets Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. We gather in the Fellowship Hall for a potluck dinner.  At 6:00 p.m., children gather in the Children's Assembly room on the second floor for a Bible lesson and choir.  This year we are using the Deep Blue Kids curriculum, "Loving God, Loving Neighbor."  In choir, the children practice music to sing during church services. The adult class meets in the Fellowship Hall during this time. Nursery for children ages 3 and under is provided from 5:30 p.m.

Parents Night Out

Four times throughout the year, we hold a Parents Night Out on a Friday evening from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Parents are invited to drop the kids off at church for a fun evening of crafts, games, and movies. Dinner is provided, and the nursery is open for infants - 3 year old children. There is no charge, and you do not need to be a church member to participate.  The dates for 2019-2020 are Fridays, September 20, November 15, January 17, and March 13.

Baptism

We rejoice whenever our church family grows by birth or adoption! Our pastors are anxious to meet with families to share our understanding of the meaning and responsibilities of the sacrament of baptism and to make plans to welcome our newest members.

Safe Child Policy

Our church strives to make sure each child feels welcomed, loved, and safe in our building and in our programs. We are a "Safe Sanctuaries" church and all our staff and volunteers are background checked and participate in an annual child-safety training program. For more information on our Safe Child Policy, click here.
