Happy Thursday! Our May birthday is: 24 – Sophia S. Happy Birthday!
Godly Play will NOT meet this Sunday, May 6! There is one service at 10:00 a.m. this week. Next Sunday, May 13, will be our closing for the year. We will have a lite breakfast and will recognize our 5th graders, storytellers, and doorpersons. All parents are invited to attend.
There is only 1 more official WHIRLwind Wednesday before the end of the year! On May 9, we will have hamburgers for dinner. Please bring a side or dessert to share. The children will have their last WHIRL class and choir rehearsal. They will sing on Mother’s Day, May 13, during the 11:00 service. On Wednesday, May 16, we will have an end-of-the-year picnic here at church. Please come prepared with some ideas of things you would like to do on Wednesday evenings next year.
Registration forms for VBS are now available in the Fellowship Hall! VBS 2018, Amped: Live Fully Alive will be July 9-12, 5:30-8:30 p.m.! This year we will learn about the lives of Joseph, Esther, Jesus, and Paul. We want all kids to know that: God is with you; God has a plan for you; Jesus is alive!; You are part of a bigger story. If you would like to help with VBS, please contact Amy Wilson. We are in need of small group helpers, activity station helpers, decorators, and more! Please prayerfully consider this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our children.
Don’t miss the early bird registration deadline for summer camp! If your child is going to camp in July, the early deadline is Friday, June 1. You can still register for camp after June 1, but the cost goes up $75. There are registration forms and scholarship applications available in the Fellowship Hall, and I have attached the schedule for you with the registration dates. Scholarship applications are due to me by Sunday, May 27. All campers are eligible for a scholarship of up to $100 from the Youth Legacy Fund.

Party on Air is hosting a Star Wars Night TOMORROW, Friday, May 4, 4-8 p.m. Get your tickets now!
The Heart of Danville’s Lawn Chair Theater will show Coco on Saturday, May 12, at 8 p.m. Popcorn and drinks will be sold. I have attached the schedule for the rest of the summer.
Shaker Village – Moms are free on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13!
The Boyle County Public Library – TODAY, Thursday, May 3, is Now Playing Night, 4-5 p.m. They will be watching a superhero movie. Lego Club will meet Friday, May 4, at 4 p.m. Monday, May 7, is VolunTween. Kids ages 9-13 can come and go between 4-7 p.m. and help the Children’s Library with their spring cleaning. There will be a Mother’s Day Bear Workshop on Tuesday, May 8, 4-5 p.m. for all ages. Space is limited, so register now at the Children’s Desk. Next Thursday, May 10, kids ages 9-13 can bring their photos to turn into coasters, 4-5 p.m. The library also offers Baby Lapsit Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Toddler story time is Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and preschool story times are Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
The Community Art Center – TODAY, Thursday, May 3, 4-5 p.m. come paint your own bud vase. These make great Mother’s Day gifts! Registration is now open for artists who would like to participate in Art-a-Thon. It will be Saturday, May 12, 11-4. Summer camps will start Monday, June 4. Check out the website for a complete list of the camps offered. http://communityartscenter.net/art-for-kids/camp/ They continue to offer the Munchkin & Me class Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. for free, pottery painting Saturdays from 12-5 p.m., and Lisi’s Art Lab is free and open to the public whenever the Center is open.
The next Main Street Live is Thursday, May 17, 6-9 p.m. in Weisiger Park! Enjoy live music and local food and beer with your friends. These events will take place the third Thursday of each month March-October. This month’s performer will be Mike Archer.
The Kentucky Children’s Garden at the UK Arboretum is open. Thursdays are craft days. Fridays are Story Time days. Saturdays are Sow It Saturday. Sundays are Nature Walks. There will be free admission 10-2 on Saturday, May 19.

The Lexington Legends will play the Delmarva Shorebirds Wednesday, May 9 – Friday, May 11. Wednesday, May 9 is Education Day. There will be STEM related activities throughout the game. Friday, May 11, is a Hit the Books Redemption Night, Friday Night Live, and Girl Scout Campout. They play the Greenville Drive Saturday, May 12 – Tuesday, May 15. Saturday is Yoga on the Field. Sunday there will be gifts for moms throughout the game. Sunday is also Sensory-Friendly Night and there will be play time in the outfield. All kids 12 and under get in free on Sundays.
The Explorium of Lexington will have a summer camp on Creepy, Crawly Creatures May 29-June 1. There are morning and afternoon options. A full day is $200 per child. A half day is $90 per child. This is for children ages 3 yrs-5th grade. Campers should bring their own lunch. Reservations are required.
