THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF DANVILLE
Frequently Asked Questions
If you are looking for a friendly place to experience God’s love in community, we hope you’ll join us at The Presbyterian Church of Danville. If you are new to the area, or a first-time visitor, here are some frequently asked questions you might have:

Where are we located? Is parking available?

Our street address is 500 West Main Street, in the heart of Danville, Kentucky and right next to the Centre College campus. The front of the church faces Main Street, but also has an entrance on Walnut Street. You can park along Main and 5th Streets, and there is a parking lot by the back entrance of the church on Walnut Street. Click here for a map of our exact location.

When are services held?
We have two traditional services on Sundays. One at 8:30 a.m. where communion is served every week and one at 11:00 a.m. with beautiful organ music and a full choir.

When is Sunday School?

Sunday School hour is 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Children can participate in the Godly Play program, located upstairs in the Children’s Assembly Room, youth have classes in Fellowship Hall, and adults can choose from several different classes on topics that change throughout the year (in Rooms 120 and 122 on the first floor).

Is there nursery available?

Yes! We have a nursery staffed with a wonderful professional childcare team, located on the first floor (turn right at the lobby elevator down the hallway). The nursery is available for infants through children 4 years of age during the 8:30 Worship, Sunday School and 11:00 Worship. Parents receive a pager when they drop off their children in case they are needed.

Are children welcome at the worship service?

We welcome all God’s children in worship, and think wiggles and giggles are a great addition to the vibrant life of our church. There are worship bags for children at each entrance to the Sanctuary with books, activity pages, quiet games and other materials, and we have a Time for Children every Sunday before the sermon.

What is Communion like?

Communion is served by intinction (coming forward and taking a piece of bread and dipping it in the chalice) every Sunday at our 8:30 service. Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month at the 11:00 service, and is served in the pews. All are welcome to partake in communion, regardless of your age, religious tradition or church membership status.

What should I wear?

You’ll see a little bit of everything at our services – from men in suits and women with big hats to college students in jeans and polos. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in – the important thing is that we’re all here to worship God together!

Is the church handicap-accessible?

Yes, there are ramps at both entrances, and an elevator to get you between floors. Restrooms are also handicap-accessible.

How do I find out about becoming a member?

You can contact any of the pastors (our email addresses and phone numbers are listed on the Contact page), or just sign the Friendship Pad on the pew during worship and someone will be in touch with you soon to give you more information or answer any questions you might have.
