Local Mission
Local Mission Ministry works to serve the needs of those in Danville and Boyle County and occasionally to the wider neighborhood of central and eastern Kentucky. Our activities include:
Deacons Aid Grants
Each year Local Mission Ministry offers grants of varying amounts to local non-profits to further the good works they offer to area residents. Funding for this grant program is provided by donations from the congregation and others who have specifically designated their monies be used locally. Applications are sent out in early December for the next calendar year, reviewed by the group in January, and checks are distributed quarterly for those nonprofits awarded the grants. Recipients of these grants include local schools’ Family Resource Centers/Youth Service Centers, Family Services Association of Danville/Boyle County, Greenhouse 17, The Gladys Project, CASA of the Bluegrass, Heritage Hospice, The Salvation Army, Shepherds’ House, Boyle County ASAP, Boyle County Adult Education/GED, New Hope Food Pantry and Happy Feet.
Local Assistance
With the remaining money withdrawn for Deacons’ Aid Grants, the Ministry tries to honor as many requests for help as we can. These might include utilities, temporary housing, gas cards, local schools’ events, support for housing and food challenged individuals and crises for church members or their families.
Pantry Project
Local Mission coordinates and fills the Blessing Box behind our church with donations supplied to the church for shelf stable food. Sometimes the donations are taken to the New Hope Food Pantry.
Showers of Blessings
This includes specific collections of items from the congregation to supply a need in the community. For example, in the recent past we have collected socks and toiletries for Boyle County Health Department and housing items to replenish the Kentucky Refugee Ministry warehouse.

Salvation Army Angels Christmas Program
Each year Local Mission coordinates the Angel Tree program at our church. Congregants choose an angel(s) and buy for a child(ren).
Kentucky Blood Center
Kentucky Blood Center is a community-based nonprofit organization providing lifesaving blood products to Kentucky hospitals since 1968. They strive to ensure every hospital they serve has access to a safe and abundant blood supply. KBC is the largest FDA-licensed nonprofit blood bank headquartered in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and relies on volunteer blood donors to provide 400 pints of blood per day to meet area patients’ needs. Local Mission Greeters serve as hosts for blood drives held by the Blood Center scheduled several times a year in our Activity Room.
