Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! The congregation, Session and staff of The Presbyterian Church of Danville share your joy! Christian marriage is a covenant in which a couple pledges their love to each other in plenty and in want; in joy and in sorrow; in sickness and in health as long as they both shall live. The marriage covenant is based on God’s covenant with us, and helps us celebrate it.

It is our desire that your wedding be a memorable occasion that is both beautiful and meaningful. We are pleased to offer our facilities and service to all church members and to others, in accordance with the policies and regulations as approved by the Session, the governing body of the local church.

OUR UNDERSTANDING OF CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE

Christian marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family.

A wedding recognizes that marriage is not something we have created, but is rather a faithful response to the call of God to enter into the covenant of marriage. God has a plan for us in marriage, and just as we are always living into our baptism, so we are beginning a journey of living into our marriage commitments and discovering God's purpose for us in this life together.

Weddings are both solemn and joyous occasions in which God is worshipped and is present to hear vows exchanged. The focus is not on the couple, or the decorations, or the bridal party, but rather is on celebrating God’s gift of marriage.
